About Mike

Most of my past 20 years have been in the exciting world of research or development. I have worked in motherboard design, integrated circuit design, and digital radio design. No matter where I’ve worked, I’ve spent a significant amount of time writing. And I didn’t just happen to unwittingly draw the short straw as an engineer for all these years. This is the experience of most engineers–even the ones inventing new things.

Early on, I really struggled with writing. It stressed me, and my erratic approach made things worse. But this all changed for me when I learned how to apply my engineering skills to writing. This systematic approach made all the difference, and it is the technique I present in The Science of Writing book and in my online class. This method is so versatile that I use it to write every one of my documents, from the smallest summary all the way up to 100+ page documents.

I hope you find this approach equally useful in your day-to-day academic and professional lives. If you do, please consider “liking” us on Facebook.
